Bag Lady
Simple outfits, better bags
I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of a bag in an outfit, and how often it ends up being the thing that brings everything to life. Lately I’ve been drawn to styles that feel a little more expressive…whether that’s through color, texture, shape, or just something slightly unexpected. Not necessarily statement for the sake of it, but pieces that add interest in a way that feels natural.
There’s something about a bag that’s different from other accessories. It’s practical, yes, but it also sits at the center of your look. It moves with you, it’s always visible, it holds a certain presence. Especially in spring and summer, when everything else gets more pared back, it can really carry the outfit.
I pulled together a selection of bags I came across this week that all do that in different ways: some classic, some playful, some a little whimsical, but all of them with that extra something.
Starting with my zebra selects because I’m currently in the market. If these are still available in a few days, I’m claiming one!
So cute for the pool or just an easy spring/summer bag. I also found it in a few other colors.
I’m not usually one for “practical,” but this color is actually so useful…and I’m obsessed with the bakelite frame.
A few cosmetic bags that double perfectly as clutches. Don’t let the name fool you, these go well beyond just toiletries.
Blue was a major theme this week. I think I’m just craving color, but I keep coming back to it.
Anything and everything fringe…how fun is this never-worn Proenza?
Mammal, reptile…everyone’s invited.
Timeless, classic bags: the kind that look like I spend the summer on Cape Cod and send my kids to boarding school.
A group of bags that all feel a little whimsical…like they belong in a fairytale…or on a vacation.
Love you, bye!
